Jason Hybner leads YJHS

He’s only been on the job -- by his own words -- “two weeks to the day,” but new Yorktown Junior High School Principal Jason Hybner has already made himself at home in the office.  “It’s a good school.  Good kids,” Hybner said as he settled into the chair behind the desk he now occupies.
Hybner, a Victoria native, has a self-professed love of teaching and children.  “I’ve always taught special education,” he said.  But there was a very short period -- one whole week -- when he almost changed the course of his life.
“I went to law school in Houston for six months,” he said.  “But then I decided I was not interested.  I had an interview for a teaching position on Monday, quit law school on Wedndesday, and starting teaching that same week.”
Hybner said he always thought he wanted to be a lawyer and while he wanted to specialize in children’s law, studying the legal profession left him lacking.  So he went back to teaching.
