Editor’s note: The following letter was submitted in May. Due to website glitch, The Record received the letter this month.
The Cuero Boy Scout Troop 245 and their families would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the outstanding businesses who gave their generous donations and also the ever supportive community in making the 7th annual Cuero Car Show a great success.
The businesses are: GeoSouthern Energy Corporation, First Presbyterian Church, Cuero Rotary Club, McDonalds, Robert Puckett, Certified Oilfield Rentals, Cuero Automotive & Cycle Repair, Cuero Motors, Cuero Pecan House, Cuero Turkeyfest Association, Cuero/Yoakum Propane Gas Company , Dunn Services, Ilene Gohmert, McMahan Welding Service, Mission Nursing & Rehabilitation, Parkside Family Clinic, Partners Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, R. Katz Tool & Supply, Security Storage, Smith Ranch Investments, TrustTexas Bank, Weber Motor Company, Clegg Industries, Crain & Sheppard, Cuero Lions Club, Cuero Veterinary Clinic, Denis and Sheryl Mueller, Freund Funeral Home, K-N Rootbeer Drive In, Ray and Sue Kelley, and Warrior’s Weekend.
The troop is proud to announce that for the first time a portion of the benefits will be going to a charity and this year the troop has chosen Warrior’s Weekend to share their funds.
The proceeds from this event allow the troop not only to participate in a variety of programs for the scouts to enjoy but to continue their tradition of community service projects. Upcoming events are a week long summer camp at Lost Pines Scout Reservation and a Memorial Day color guard flag ceremony planned for Whispering Oaks Nursing Home in honor of the upcoming national holiday. The troop also is making plans for a high adventure camp in Colorado for the summer of 2015. The funds raised will also go to help with the equipment needed to make all these projects possible.
These experiences the scouts have aren’t just a chance for fun but also provide the opportunity to learn leadership skills and build self confidence. A strong character and a positive sense of self worth and usefulness through the serving of others are just a few of the many benefits for the scouts. This is truly what each and every business and individual who helped with the Cuero Scout Car Show have given to the boys.
