Wildcats lose first preseason game

The first preseason game for the Yorktown Wildcats was one for the lesson books after being defeated by the St. Paul Cardinals 35-14.
Yorktown head football coach Ty Robinson said, “The mistakes we made, I hope that it is over with tonight. I remember from last year [that it takes time] for the young ones [to get started]. We need to take some time to gel and get better every week.”
The game started with the Cardinals kicking off. The Wildcat kick-off receiver missed the ball placing Yorktown at their own 9-yard line. At fourth and 7 Yorktown went to punt. The center hiked the ball high for the Cardinals to get the safety and taking the lead 0-2.
It did not get any better for the Wildcats. After crucial missed tackles and two fumbles recovered by the Cardinals the first half ended with Yorktown behind 29-0.
