Fishpond community thanks local businesses

Dear Editor,

Recently, the residents of the Fishpond Community had the opportunity of having our office manager/maintenance person, Michael Morales, build plant containers for those of us who wanted to plant a garden. He worked tirelessly on his own time building our dream gardens. Over 15 were built, with the possibility of having a few more for fall gardens. They are the perfect hight for those who might need assistance. But it didn’t stop there. Resident Chuck Albert went around and started asking for donations to fill these containers. It is only with our sincere appreciation we thank the following vendors/individuals who made our garden cost-free. Andres Masonry for picking up and delivering our top soil, Weaver & Jacobs for donating the top soil, Cuero Recycling Center for donating soil and mulch, Alamo Lumber for donating the lumber and paint to make our sign displayed in front of the Fishpond, Ranger Gates from Yoakum for donating all the 5’ and 10’ inserts to go inside the frames Michael built, S4 Irrigation and Cox Brothers Roofing for donating landscape cloth, the DeWitt County Extension Office for providing classes on plants and how to grow them and the following who donated all of our plants: HEB, Walmart, Allied Feeds (Ful O Pep), Tractor Supply and Darwin and Vicki Cross. Our gardens are growing and also struggling due to the intense heat, but each and every one of these are being carefully taken care of by our gardeners. We are already talking and planning our fall gardens. So, thank you to each and every one who made our gardens a success.

Sincerely,

Susie Albert
