2017 National Night Out

Dear Editor,

The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, Inc. along with the Yorktown Local Emergency Responders held the 2017 National Night Out Social at the pavilion at the Yorktown City Park on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

National Night Out is a great opportunity to engage with your local law officials and emergency responders and learn various safety suggestions. Thanks to the members of the Yorktown Police Department, Yorktown EMS and Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department for participating and hosting. We appreciate the City of Yorktown for providing a clean and trimmed venue for this event.

We appreciate the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office, DeWitt County Juvenile Probation, Texas Department of Public Safety, Cuero Regional Hospital/Yorktown Medical Clinic, Yorktown Lions Club, Yorktown Nursing and Rehabilitation for participating and demonstrating and offering goodies. We are fortunate to have the Methodist Air Care in our area and appreciate them piloting their aircraft to join us at our event.

Attendees enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers courtesy of The First National Bank of Beeville-Yorktown and kids games and prizes operated by Paul Janacek of Skinny’s Fireworks. Also, a great big “Thanks” to GVEC for the use of their big cooling fans, they made for a more pleasant event. Our gratitude also must be given to Citizens Bank of Yorktown and the First National Bank of Shiner-Cuero Branch for contributing towards our event.

Door prizes were furnished by The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, Victoria ER, Abuelitas, Smolik’s Quality Meats and Cuero Regional Hospital. Winners of the various safety items and gift certificates were Jalen Gamez, Harvey Kainer, Martha Garcia, Debbie Yount, Roberta Parillo, Mike Miller, Flo Rackley, Pat Kainer, Nelda Valdez, Barney Torres, DeAnna Pfister, Paul Janacek and Mary Bell Blackner, congratulations to these winners.
