49th annual Turkeyfest a hit

Dear Editor,

Turkeyfest 2021 was one for the books! This incredible festival kicked off with our traditional “Fun after 5” event on Thursday, Oct. 7, and was followed by three days of live music, family entertainment, food vendors, washer and cornhole tournament, shopping, carnival, BBQ cook-off and the incredible Great Gobbler Gallop between Paycheck of Worthington, Minnesota and Ruby Begonia of Cuero. To top this weekend off, our beloved Ruby Begonia won the race and took back the title of Turkey Capital of the World!

The Turkeyfest Board of Directors would like to thank the City of Cuero and our many sponsors for your dedication and support throughout the years and now more than ever in 2021. Following the year 2020, which postponed and canceled many events, Cuero Turkeyfest was able to return in 2021 with a bang! Turkeyfest filled the air with not one, but two stages, record number of vendors and parade entries and the addition of wristbands to our carnival. We were absolutely thrilled to bring this historic festival back to the heart of Cuero and this year’s attendance exceeded our expectations. Without the continuous support of our community and many sponsors a festival like this could not be possible. Hats off to you Cuero, for making Cuero Turkeyfest a tradition we can all be proud of.
