Christmas with Santa

Dear Editor,

The “Christmas with Santa” event, sponsored by the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce was held on Thursday, December 7, 2017. Due to the inclement weather the event was moved to the Yorktown Chamber office from its original intended downtown location. I appreciate the cooperation of everyone, it went really well and everyone seemed to have a great time.

We thank Santa for stopping by and spending time with us and the Fire Department for delivering him to our location. St. Paul’s handed out freshly popped popcorn, the local Girl Scouts had an ornament craft table and offered coffee, while Project Graduation had cupcakes and hot chocolate. Santa’s mailbox was available for letters from Santa courtesy of Shear Designs/3 Chicks and a Clothesline. We missed Skinny’s (Paul Janacek) games due to him feeling under the weather. The “Miss Yorktown” court graced us with their presence as they played Santa’s elves by handing out goodies to his visitors. With entertainment provided by the Hermann Sons dancers and the Yorktown High School band our community was blessed with a welcoming celebration.

If you didn’t’ get a chance to vote on your favorite decorated tree with your canned goods and non-perishable food items at the Yorktown Historical Museum, please take time to do so. Also, the “Shop Late til 8’’ opportunity is still an option for December 14 and December 21 at various shops downtown.

To everyone who made the event possible, we are most gracious and pleased to offer this community event. Put us on the calendar for the 1st Thursday in December for 2018 and may all of you have a most “Blessed Holiday”.

Sincerely,

Tammy Bitterly
