Expression of Gratitude
At this season of Thanksgiving and on behalf of the Yorktown Public Library, I would like to thank the community for its support during the last year. The loss of Mickey Vela Dennison, our very special library worker and good friend, was extremely painful. The words of condolence as well as memorials and gifts were greatly appreciated. Many people helped support the library financially while we faced some difficult times.
Others donated their time, books, or other supplies. Sarah Hahn, owner of Seams Like Home, provided fabric for whatever our need at no cost. Sarah Bargmann and Chrissy Plant made Toddler Time a delight for the children. The Friends of the Library worked tirelessly to accomplish tremendous tasks: the interior of the library was painted, grants were written for the Summer Reading Program, the Summer Reading Program had record attendance, plans are currently being made for a wonderful community gala to be held in April, 2020, and so much more.
Mayor Bill Baker, John Barth, and the City Council have supported the library to accomplish goals and meet needs. Whether we were out of paper for the copier or had plumbing problems, our awesome City Employees always came through for us.
Finally, I would like to thank our patrons who made the jobs of the library staff so enjoyable. Your support meant everything! If you have not been to the library lately, please stop in and see what we have to offer the community.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Beth Riedesel, Library Director
