Salute to DeWitt County Historical Commission
Dear Editor,
A tip of the hat and a great big salute to the DeWitt County Historical Commission, City of Cuero, and the Cuero Chamber of Commerce for planning, organizing, and executing one of the best Independence Day activities in Cuero for several years. If you were one of the many in attendance you were treated to various very patriotic and inspiring events held in the Cuero Park Clubhouse. These events included:
A Days of Steel Rain book review and signing by author, Brent E. Jones. He gave a great presentation on the pacific battle during WW2 and Vengence Ship USS Astoria’s action in the Pacific the year of the Kamikaze.
A presentation by U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Justin Hagel on the signers of the Declaration of Independence and what hardships they suffered for signing the document. He also revealed a little-known secret about why John Hancock signed his name so large.
