Shroeder family thankful for community

Dear Editor,

On behalf of Charles, myself, and our children, we send out the most heartfelt Thank You possible to our Community for the amazing response at the Charles Schroeder Benefit & BBQ Cookoff. The outpouring of support, participation, and bids was overwhelming, and Charles & I are still in shock. We are so very proud to be a part of such a close knit community.

We have often purchased raffle tickets or bbq plates at fundraisers or even hosted fundraisers for other people as well. We feel when people are in need that’s when we should circle the wagons and take care of our own.

Those random acts of kindness have been paid back to us ten-fold. We never expected a Benefit, much less one that has led to helping us be able to focus on Charles’ recovery instead of worrying how to make the house payment. Special thanks go out to Richard & Missy Sappington, Derek & Karissa Eckhardt, Erik & Dawn Helbing, Charlie & Tara Friesenhahn, and the countless others who put in their own blood, sweat, and tears to make the Benefit a miraculous success.

No words exist to describe the amount of gratitude we have for each and every one of you who organized & participated in the Benefit. We would also like to thank everyone who came by the house to mow(Erik & Dawn Helbing), clean up(Cathy Morehead), and help out with food for the kids(Jason & Robin Day and Derek & Dawn Brown). Thank you to everyone who sent cards, money, and gift baskets.

They were all greatly appreciated! In addition, I personally would like to thank Charles’ mom, Gay, and Charles’ sister, Mandy, for being there for me as I waited to see if Charles would live through this horrible infection, live through the strokes, & live through the aneurysm removal. You two held me up when I felt as though the ground was crumbling under me.

I would like to thank my brother, Dave, who flew down from South Dakota to be with me. I drew so much strength from you, big brother. Thanks also to my sister, Julie, who came and brought me some items to help keep me occupied during the long waiting periods at the hospital.

They came in handy! Charles & I are working hard together to help him recover. It’s a slow process, but we celebrate each and every improvement! We will be back at the BBQ pit at Western Days!!

We’ll see y’all there!

Thas Riiight!

Charles, Mariah, JD, Ty, & Justin Schroeder
