'Truly a hands-on mayor'

Dear Editor,

The attached photo speaks volumes or is a picture worth a thousand words? The Mayor, Bill Baker, his wife, Charlotte, and Kaley Lassmann spent a Sunday morning cleaning the painted mortar off the bricks on the city hall building. Our Mayor is truly a “hands-on” mayor. Thank you for your dedication to this small city and the volunteers for the service. It truly enhances the mural which has a story to be told. Yorktown was planned and designed to be a “Rastplatz” (Rest Place) on the Indianola Trail which happens to cross Riedel Street. Many of the earliest citizens of Yorktown were freighters on this Indianola Trail traveling 15 miles a day between creeks from Indianola, Texas to San Antonio or New Braunfels. On behalf of the Yorktown Historical Society, Thank you Mayor Baker, Charlotte Baker, and Kaley Lassmann for your help in this spot of beautification.

Respectfully,

Beverly Burns,

President of the Yorktown Historical Society
