The way life ought to be

Dear Editor,

What a mantra that became so appropriate during last week’s weather crisis. You most likely didn’t hear that Cuero had not lost electrical power or water service on the nightly news. Rarely does efficient, professional, well-delivered public services make it into the headlines.

I would like to commend our mayor, Sara Meyer, Raymie Zella, Cuero’s city manager, the Cuero city council and all of the dedicated city staff that went beyond their normal duties to make sure that Cuero survived the uncomfortable (often life-threatening) power outages.

Yes, “it should have been that way” all over Texas but sadly, the State missed the mark. I hope that the City can parlay this good news into real progress with attracting promising businesses that are looking to our community to relocate. The benefits of living in Cuero go much further than dependable electricity in times of crisis but let that be where the discussions begin.
