Dear Editor, On Tuesday, May 3, ThriveFuel Marketing opened its doors in historic downtown Cuero and invited the public and business community to view the space and meet the local team at the open house and mixer with the Cuero Chamber of Commerce. Attendees were treated to live music from local musician Devyn Whittington, Coastal Bend Distilling offered sampling of their Live Oak Texas Vodka, along with mixer options, and frozen margaritas by Daiquiri Depot helped to keep guests cool.

It’s time to pray for revival in America! Who would have ever thought America could go this far in being concerned for special rights for the LGBTQ? Let us go back to the founding of our country. Before this experiment in individual freedom was undertaken, there was much talk and discussion about religion and governments.

Abbott vetoes bills; feud with Patrick grows

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick claimed last week that Gov. Greg Abbott is sabotaging the Senate’s work because of their ongoing feud over which approach to property tax reform is best, The Dallas Morning News reported. Abbott vetoed three bills by Sen. Paul Bettencourt, R-Houston, who has been Patrick’s point senator on increasing homestead exemptions in order to provide tax cuts. As of Friday afternoon, he had vetoed 31 bills.

Gov. Greg Abbott late last week warned lawmakers to be prepared for several special sessions to pass a tax reform bill that he will accept, as well as a school voucher plan that failed to pass during the regular session.

Dear Editor: Cuero is ‘bloomin’ with activities: • May is Monarch Friendly Month which the City of Cuero celebrates by encouraging our citizens to plant pollinator plants and butterfly friendly plants such as salvias, purple coneflowers, and milkweeds. If you’ve created a monarch friendly garden to help these beauties on their 2000 mile migration from Mexico to Canada and right through Cuero, stop by the City Hall and pick up a sign saying “Monarch Friendly.” The Monarch population has declined by 80% in the last 20 years according to Center for Biological Diversity.
