Great culture, lightning strikes this week: no rain

GOD first...Heavenly Father, we thank You for the time that we have been blessed by Pastor Jonathan Mollenkopf. He will always be a blessing to any place he will serve. Your servant has served us well beyond our expectations. We know that You have better plans for him and his ministry. Give him the strength and courage to guide other congregations and with his talents, which are many, he will be a blessing to all of them. We pray in the name of our savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

**A man appeared at a newspaper office to place an ad offering a $1,000 reward for the return of his wife's pet cat.

'That's an awful price to pay for a cat,' said the clerk.

'Not this one,' replied the man. 'I drowned it.'

The discussion at Kaffee Klatch this past Thursday, one of the topics was about the church pews which were sent to Victoria to be refurbished and a few needed repairs. This was in May when they came and got them. At first, many questions were asked about some of the things that needed to be done. Since then, not a word was received and Pam Remmers, who was in charge, tried a lot of times to get in touch with the company without success. In her persistence, she finally, after many trips, this past Monday, called again and finally got an answer. Without going into many details, the company has guaranteed to have them back and installed by early September. She told the man that he better have them installed before the end of October, as there will be a wedding and the bride will not wait until the pews are back and installed. The bride-tobe said she will only be patient just one more time. If that doesn't speed up the work, nothing else will.

Today Sunday, 4th, a benefit concert for NISD Booster Club was held at the NISD Auditorium at 4 p.m. It was also a farewell to Nordheim's Pastor Jonathan Mollenkopf who played the piano and gave his piano playing talent a lot of exercise playing over 20 songs from George Gershwin and Ludwig Beethoven to name a few. It's been a long time since Nordheimers have received such great culture. Billy Fischer assisted Jonathan by turning pages as our pastor played. Billy also sang one of the songs and Darnielle Wilson sang another during the concert while accompanied by Jonathan. The last song was sung by the entire audience which was the Pirate Song.

After the concert, everyone retired to the Nordheim School Lunchroom to eat our famous homemade ice cream. Nordheim ISD Booster Club received a good amount of funds for their 2024-2025 school season by selling ice cream and having donations at the door.

As storm clouds gathered this evening in Nordheim after the concert, the city only received 21 lightning strikes and a lot of thunder that shook windows in houses and the expectation of rain all went south. Sure looked good for a while.

See you next week.
