Ruby Selection Day crowns new Ruby Begonia
This past Friday evening, Aug. 9 in Downtown Cuero the annual “Ruby Selection Day” was held. Kids and adults alike lined both sides of the street chanting “Go, Ruby, go” as two turkeys raced, one at a time, down Main Street during the second Tunes ‘N Trucks event.
Only one Ruby Begonia can be chosen to represent Cuero and this is the race that decides which one will take on Paycheck of Minnesota during both heats of the Great Gobbler Gallop.
The first heat will take place in Worthington, MN on Saturday, Sept. 14 with the second heat happening at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the intersection of Main Street and Esplanade in Cuero.
The 2019 Cuero Turkeyfest Race Team consists of Kenneth Schley, captain; Clayton Lantz, handler and James Rath, handler.
