Courtney Clark, a 2016 graduate of Cuero High School, is now coaching girls basketball in Yorktown. After doing sports all through junior high and high school, she decided coaching was for her.

“I’ve always wanted to be a teacher,” Clark explained. “and then whenever I started playing sports in junior high I was like, ok, I like being on the coaching side of it.”

While earning her degree in EC-12 Physical Education from the University of Houston-Victoria, Clark did some coaching on the side as well.

“I would coach little teams, not like any big teams, but my last semester of student teaching I did coach in Cuero, I helped with the softball team, so that helped me really get the feel of everything. But before this, I just actually kind of did like little league and things like that, but never a role like now.”

Clark’s desire to stay near Cuero had a role in her deciding to coach in Yorktown.
