The Cuero Record
It was an exciting Friday this past week, April 8, that saw two more Cuero athletes sign their national letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the college level. Cuero’s Daniel Hughston signed with McKendree University where he will continue his powerlifting career. Jake Plunkett signed with Southwestern University where he will be continuing to play football for the Pirates next season.
After a successful powerlifting career at Cuero, Hughston will now attend McKendree University located in Lebanon, Illinois. Hughston enjoyed quite a run this year that saw him place second at the Regional powerlifting meet, qualifying him for a trip to State. As Hughston embraces what’s next, he is excited about the opportunity, “It’s a good opportunity for me to just keep on doing what I love at a higher level,” Hughston said. “As soon as I visited I knew it was the place I wanted to go. I fell in love with the town and the people that I met there.”
