On Tuesday, March 8, the Yorktown Kitty Kats softball team traveled to Kenedy to open up district play. Stringing together 25 hits, nine out of ten Kitty Kat batters would reach base and score a run on the way to a 21-2 victory. Julianna Garza would put together an outstanding performance on the mound facing a total of 20 Lady Lion batters, striking out ten, while only allowing one hit and walking one. Seely Metting, Ayana Longoria and Julianna Garza each would tally four RBI’s, combining for 11 total hits, six going for extra bases. Jasmine Hernandez would add four base knocks, driving in three runs. Caylen Boehm was a home-run away from hitting for the cycle and would cross the plate four times. Other Kitty Kats to register a hit and score a run include Heavenleigh Enriquez, Kaley Lassman, Emie Bolting and Aubrie Ruppert.

“What a way to start district play. We were determined to get this win. Everyone contributed either by playing on the field or encouraging their teammates from the dugout,” stated Coach Tracy Heasley.
