The Yorktown Kitty Kats finished out their non-district schedule this past week, playing six games in five days, winning two and losing four.

On Tuesday, Dec. 7, the Kitty Kats traveled to Falls City to take on the always tough Lady Beavers. In an exciting, back-and-forth game, Yorktown was able to pull off a 43-42 win. Senior Seely Metting led the way with 27 points to go along with eight rebounds, while junior Ayana Longoria added nine points. Junior Emie Bolting pulled down six rebounds, while freshman Laynie Boyd had six rebounds and five steals.

Next, Yorktown played five games in the Flatonia Bulldog Invitational Basketball Tournament over a three-day period. On the first day, the Kitty Kats opened the tournament by defeating Class 4A Smithville, 46-30. Metting had 28 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Kaley Lassmann added five points. Bolting pulled down eight rebounds, while freshman Braleigh Dodds had seven rebounds. In game two, Yorktown was defeated by Cypress Christian, a Class 4A private school, 52-35. Metting had 25 points, while Lassmann pulled down five rebounds.

On the second day, Yorktown first faced off with Class 1A powerhouse Fayetteville, who just won state in volleyball. The Kitty Kats led early, but Fayetteville won the game, 38-33. Metting had 27 points, 12 rebounds and five steals. Bolting had seven rebounds, while freshman Sydnie Krueger had six rebounds. In game two, Yorktown fell to the host Flatonia Lady Bulldogs, 32-26. Metting had 18 points, five rebounds and five steals. Krueger pulled down six rebounds to go along with six steals.
