When the Nordheim Pirates traveled to Waelder last Monday, Feb 14, they knew what was at stake the moment they stepped off of the bus. Securing their second straight district title. The Pirates sailed in and would earn a hard-fought victory, 75-72, over the Wildcats to clinch their share of the district crown. The Pirates were scheduled to play Tuesday, Feb 15, against Austwell-Tivoli in the regular-season finale, but the game was canceled and did not have to be made up. Nordheim finishes the season 13-11 overall, going 10-1 through district play. The Pirates have secured the #1 seed out of District 30-1A for the playoffs. Head Coach of the Pirates, Carlton Williams, stated this when asked about leading the Pirates to their second straight district title. “It's exciting, we had four senior starters that played a lot of minutes and had some big roles for us to graduate last year. I didn’t think we would be able to pull it off with so many people filling in at new spots, but they worked really hard, these seniors have really stepped up.”
