The Wildcats had an explosive first half during their bi-district playoff game against Sabinal on Thursday, Nov. 11 at Eschenburg Field in Floresville. The Yorktown team would lead 34-6 after the first two quarters. The dynamic duo of Drew Alexander and Kalen Barefield would ignite the offense with an 80-yard touchdown to start the game. Both Alexander and Barefield top the area leaderboard in passing and receiving yards, respectively. Gabe Latta would punch in another touchdown from the one-yard line. DeQuan Clay would scamper into the end zone on the two-point conversion, 14-0. The duo of Alexander and Barefield would strike again, connecting on an 80-yard pass to bring the score to 21-0 afterwards Andres Archuleta would tack on the extra point. Sabinal would get on the scoreboard; however, the Wildcats would respond with their own touchdown. This time Alexander and Clay would link up extending the lead to 28-6. Clay would also help get the Wildcats in striking range with a 65-yard run downfield. Dylan Respondek would catch a 10-yard pass in the endzone from Alexander to conclude the first-half scoring.

Sabinal would be the first to strike in the second half. Their two-point conversion would fail, 34-12. With 7:29 left in the third period, Barefield would scramble 49 yards to score. With less than two minutes in the period remaining, Alexander would punch in from one yard out, 48-12. Defensively, Dalton Eckhardt and Blake Boyd would record an interception and a fumble recovery in the third quarter, respectively.
