The regular meeting of DeWitt County Commissioners Court took place on Monday, April 11, at 9 a.m. The first item on the agenda was to proclaim the week of April 24 through May 1 as 2022 Soil and Water Stewardship Week.

“Basically, it is an attempt to make everyone aware of the importance of conserving soil, conserving water, caring for it,” stated DeWitt County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) secretary Velinda Geffert. “It’s in our care, custody and control, so don’t waste it, don’t abuse it; be nice to it.”

Next, the commissioners approved an affidavit granting permission to enter property owned by Norma Mata for tree and litter removal, then an amendment to the county personnel and policy manual was approved. Previously, the policy stated that employees must resign when running for office against a supervisor, but with the amendment, the policy manual no longer requires resignation.
