DeWitt County Commissioners Court was held on Monday, March 28, at 9 a.m. at the County Courthouse.

The first item on the agenda was a public hearing for proposed DeWitt County guidelines and criteria for tax abatement and other economic development guidelines. First though, Chuck Kimbrough with Bickerstaff Health Delgado Acosta LLP, DeWitt County’s outside council, explained to the court the meaning behind the guidelines and answered any questions. The public hearing was then opened, but with no public comments, the hearing was closed and the commissioners voted to accept the guidelines.

The court then approved and Judge Fowler signed a proclamation for Golden Crescent CASA that established April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month in DeWitt County.

“We are wanting to raise awareness to the need for more dedicated members from the community to step up and become CASA volunteers,” Diane Sneed, CASA program director, explained. “And help end child abuse and neglect through support of children and their families.”

Next, the court renewed a contract between Travis County and DeWitt County for post-adjudication treatment services for Juvenile offenders. They also approved an agreement between the DeWitt County Juvenile Probation Department and CISD for substance abuse classes for juveniles and an extension of the Indigent Healthcare Solutions non-exclusive license agreement and an addendum to the data processing services agreement.
