Auto-pedestrian accident in Cuero
Around 2 p.m. this afternoon, an auto-pedestrian accident took place in Cuero. According to law enforcement on the scene, a red Ford sedan was traveling west bound on the 200 block of Main street. The driver went to turn south bound on Gonzales Street, as a female was crossing the street.
Law enforcement said it does not appear that the driver of the Ford sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed but struck the woman and came to an immediate stop and tried to aid the victim until emergency personnel arrived.
She was taken to a local hospital by Cuero EMS in serious condition.
Cuero Police Department, Cuero EMS, Cuero Fire Department and DPS responded to the scene.
Margaret Louise Gossett, 64, of Cuero was pronounced dead due to blunt force trauma to the head by Peggy Mayer, DeWitt County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, yesterday, Feb. 17, at 2:34 p.m.
Scott Ray Orsak, 34, of Cuero was driving the vehicle that hit Gossett. There are no charges at this time, according to Cuero PD.
