As things continue to blossom in the community, Cuero has seen a lot of growth over the last few months. Businesses are sprouting up, new faces are coming in, and the wave of restoring the historic nature of Main Street has captured the eyes of many.

The Cuero Chamber of Commerce has recently welcomed a new assistant to the fold, Sara Blain. Blain, originally from Victoria, has Cuero routes. Her daughters Marlee and Mackenzie are Cuero graduates, and her youngest daughter, Madyx, is currently in eighth grade.

Currently progressing through her sixth week, Blain is looking forward to the opportunity of helping serve the Cuero community. In her short time on the job, she has seen people come from all over to visit the ‘Turkey Captial of the World.’

“Serving the members of the chamber and getting to know them,” said Blain on what she is looking forward to the most. “Just helping people with anything they may need. We have had people come in that are here from New York, and Las Vegas. They just want to come see what the Turkey town is about. I enjoy visiting with those kind of people.”

The attraction Cuero is creating for travelers is a welcome site. It has been one thing Blain has noticed in her brief time on the job. The Chamber is often the first stop for travelers and visitors that are seeking information on Cuero.

“It seems like they are mostly retired and they just want to see different places. Cuero is really a nice and clean town and I think the word has gotten out mainly because of Turkeyfest, how we race the turkeys. You know there’s not many places that do that, I think a lot of people think that’s pretty neat. I think [travelers] like the historical feel of downtown. It’s just really growing,” admired Blain.
