Yorktown ISD began the excavation process for foundations and underground utility for campus renovations as of mid-May, 2019. YISD Superintendent, Katherine Kuenstler, School Board president Nelda Sertuche, vice-president, Todd Metting, secretary Jody Hall, and Robert Gadbois of Owners Building Resource, LLC, presented a time-line for the renovation process during a quick interview Monday morning.
Gadbois explained that the time-line began in January of 2017 with technical assessments to see what needed to be done to the campus. With feedback from the community regarding school facilities, a master plan document was presented to the Board in October of 2017.
The master plan concluded that the entire elementary school building was no longer educationally adequate, resulting in the decision to demolish the building after a new addition was added on, along with other necessities like field house and gym renovations.
