Brookshire Brothers, a chain originally from Lufkin, Texas, is bringing one of their stores to Cuero. The grand opening will be on March 2 at 10:30 a.m., when there will be a ribbon cutting and vendors.

“We’ll have public officials that will come and attend, and we hope anyone from the community that wants to come out will.” Melissa Crager, public relations and corporate responsibility manager for Brookshire Brothers, explained.

“We’re about community and family,” Andres Hernandez, the store manager said. “We’re not a big grocery store, but that’s what sets us apart. We set the point to make sure our service is one-hundred percent.”

Brookshire Brothers as a company celebrated its 100th anniversary last year.

“It started with two brothers who wanted to open up a downtown general store in Lufkin, Texas,” Crager explained, “and it has grown to this. So, Cuero will be our 117th store, that spans all from the Texas hill country to western Louisiana. We’re based in Lufkin, which is deep East Texas, we go into western Louisiana, and then even up into some parts of the metroplex in Dallas. I think Cuero may be our furthest south store.”

The store includes an expansive frozen food section as well as an in-store bakery, deli, smoked meats counter, and fried chicken; as well as other lunch and dinner items. A seating area with drinks will also be available for customers to eat in.
