A quarter-of-a-century in any line of work is something which shouldn’t be taken for granted. Sherry Esse reached that milestone this year, and she’s set to retire at the end of the year following four years as the Cuero Chamber of Commerce’s executive director plus 21 prior years in the industry.
“I thought about the people in my life and needing to spend more time with my granddaughters,” Esse noted for choosing now to conclude her daily role with the Chamber.
Spending more time with them, her husband, Howard Esse, her in-laws and sons along with a desire to travel more helped inspire the major decision.
“I would like to be more a part of their lives,” she said.
However, Esse did make it clear that she will remain present in the community.
“When I leave the Chamber, I’m not leaving town,” Esse said. “I am planning on continuing in volunteer efforts with the Chamber, helping with Miss Cuero and trade shows, continuing with Keep Cuero Beautiful and Cuero Rotary Club.”
