Local students showed year-over-year improvements on a majority of 2022 standardized assessments with Cuero Independent School District (CISD) passing rates above that of Region 3 on 65% of STAAR and EOC tests.

CISD recorded increased passing rates on 80% of STAAR and EOC assessments taken by students in the 2022 spring semester, with scores equal to or greater-than regional passing rates on 14 of 20 tests. Region 3 consists of 38 districts from 11 Texas counties.

The district’s largest jump in passing rate was 16% for 5th Grade Science and 6th Grade Reading; the greatest drop in passing rate was a 6% decrease for 8th Grade Social Studies.

Cuero students outperformed Region 3 passing rates by as much as 20% on 8th Grade Math and trailed by as much as 13% on 4th Grade Math.

The promising results follow a school year where CISD Superintendent Dr. Micah Dyer was named the Education Service Center (ESC) Region 3 Superintendent of the Year.
