The Yorktown Coffee with the Mayor event took place on Thursday, April 29 at 8:30 a.m. at the Yorktown Museum. Mayor Bill Baker began the meeting by welcoming everyone and introducing Jenny Diehl, the Yorktown library’s new librarian. Diehl shared some of the events the library has been hosting and announced the library’s new hours.

Mayor Baker then shared some events that had taken place recently. The “Massey Well”, a city well across from Massey Funeral Home, is operable again after it went out around May of last year. He then discussed the freeze that took place in February and thanked the city staff that helped Yorktown get back on track after the freeze. Mayor Baker then talked about the voting for the sales tax that is taking place and urged everyone to vote, and especially vote early. “Fifteen hundred and eighty-three registered voters in Yorktown and thirty voted [early],” He then discussed voting costs. He explained that currently Yorktown, Nordheim, and Cuero all pay an equal share for elections despite the differences in population.
