YHS senior Brooklyn Corpus has recently achieved a goal she has been working towards for years: being named the 2022 graduating class valedictorian.

“It was a struggle, getting my grades, because in the months of February and March I’m at stock shows, so I miss weeks at a time,” Corpus explained. “It was hard, but it was worth it.”

Corpus has been competing in stock shows for a large part of her life, beginning in fifth grade and continuing for eight years until she graduated.

When asked what she was most proud of throughout her high school years, Corpus responded, “It’s a mixture [between stock shows and valedictorian]. It’s hard, I guess getting valedictorian. I had so many struggles in the last four years, and then COVID hit, and that was hard. And, like I said, trying to get work done during stock shows, that’s always a trouble. We’re up there for 12 hours at the barn.”
