The Cuero Record

DeWitt County Commissioners Court convened on Nov. 8 with the topic of redistricting on the agenda.

Redistricting is the process of redrawing the lines that define political districts. For legislative and congressional districts--as well as for county precincts, this typically occurs after the completion of the federal census every 10 years, and in this case, it is a result of the 2020 Census.

The U.S. and Texas Constitutions require that each district/precinct have about the same population, within a five percent plus or minus range.

DeWitt County Commissioners went through the process of redistricting, and have approved the redistricting, with the greater amount of changes being made in Precincts One and Four, and are pending state approval.
