CRH receives GoldPlus award

The regular meeting of the Cuero Regional Hospital board of directors took place on Thursday, June 23, at 5:30 p.m. First, the hospital’s new marketing and business development director, Tamara Kainer was introduced, then the board approved the minutes of the May 26 annual meeting and regular meeting.

The financial and statistical report and the finance committee report were approved, then the board moved on to reappointments. For active staff, Cody Walthall, MD, family practice and emergency medicine, and Hermelinda Fitts, FNP, family practice, for allied health. For consulting/courtesy, 65 reappointments were approved within radiology-telemedicine, radiology, cardiology, emergency medicine, pathology, psych, podiatry, nephrology and sleep medicine.

The EMS picnic was reported as a success, then Lynn Falcone informed the board that the hospital has received the GoldPlus stroke award. This award is, “for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability,” a statement from the hospital reads.

“‘We are incredibly pleased to recognize Cuero Regional Hospital for its commitment to caring for patients with stroke,’ said Steven Messe, M.D., chairperson of the Stroke System of Care Advisory Group. ‘Participation in Get With The Guidelines is associated with improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates – a win for health care systems, families and communities.’”
