At the City of Cuero Council meeting on Monday, Mar. 11, an emergency ordinance was unanimously approved to cancel the May 4, 2019 City of Cuero general election, and certifying unopposed candidates. The Council-members that were initially up for election were John Fuqua, District 1, Roy Johnson, District 4, and Members-at-large W.T. “Tony” Allen and Bill Matthys.
Before the emergency reading, there were multiple public comments. Peggy Ledbetter spoke on behalf of the Veteran’s “Let Freedom Ring” Park, in which an addition will be added to provide a directory stand, a concrete bench, and a longer concrete walkway that will be wheelchair accessible.
Next, Guy Dolan approached Council to pitch a city-wide garage sale in lieu of Keep Cuero Beautiful’s annual garage sale at the park that will not be taking place.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for Cuero,” stated Dolan.
