DeWitt County reports five new cases of COVID-19

According to a press release from DeWitt County Office of Emergency Management, DeWitt County health officials are reporting five new cases of coronavirus. All of the infections are attributable to community spread or household contagion. Three live in the Cuero zip code. One lives in the Yoakum zip code. One lives in the Yorktown zip code. Due to privacy concerns the county will no longer release demographic information that might lead to the identification of a person infected with the
coronavirus.
A total of 70 cases have been diagnosed in DeWitt County since Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of emergency on March 13, 2020. Thirty-two individuals, including these diagnosed cases, are isolating at home. Three are considered inpatients of medical facilities. Thirty-four have recovered. One death in the county is attributed to COVID-19 infection of an individual with a comorbidity.
