Cuero ISD superintendent Dr. Micah Dyer has proceeded to remain an asset for the school district since taking over back in June of 2017. Presently approaching his sixth full year at the helm of Cuero ISD, Dyer was recently announced as the Education Service Center (ESC) Region 3 Superintendent of the Year. There are a total of 20 regions in the state of Texas.

“It’s a big thing to even be nominated by your board,” explained Dyer on what the achievement means.

“Basically, what your board says is we believe we have the best superintendent in this region, if not the best superintendent in the state. After you win the region, you go into the state where you go through the interview process to be considered Superintendent of the Year for the state of Texas.”

Originally from Mauriceville, Texas, Dyer has small-town roots embedded in him. With dreams of becoming a professional football player, his journey began to take a turn in college.

“I tell kids all the time your education is really important because I was a failed football player. I thought I was going to play professional football. When it came time to quit school and continue to chase the dream, I quit football and finished school,” stated Dyer on his journey.
