With two local contested races and numerous people seeking the governor’s seat, early voting was active in DeWitt County. According to DeWitt County Elections office, 1,325 voters went to the polls during the 11-day early voting period. DeWitt County has 12,083 registered voters. Close to 10% of the registered voters, cast their ballot during early voting.

In comparison, in the 2020 presidential election, 24% of the local registered voters cast ballots. The total number that voted was 2,927. Of that total, 1,215 voted during the early voting period. In the 2018 election, a total of 2,503 people voted.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.Tuesday, March 1. Polling locations include: Cuero Regional Hospital Education Classroom, 2550 N. Esplanade, Cuero; Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Hall, 207 Graham St., Cuero; Harry O. Gibson Center, 712 Forest St., Yoakum; St. Paul Lutheran Church 234 N. Gohmert St., Yorktown; St. Paul Lutheran Church, 313 Chaparral St. Nordheim; Cuero Park Clubhouse, 201 Leonard Roy Harmon Dr., Cuero; St. John Lutheran Church, 1764 Meyersville Rd., Meyersville.

DeWitt County is county-wide polling, meaning that voters may go to any of the seven polling places on Election Day, even if it’s not their voting precinct.
