The Cuero Record

The Cuero Independent School District Board of Education held its monthly meeting last Thursday, May 19. Before the regular meeting would be called to order, Cuero ISD’s District of Innovation Plan for 2022-2027 was communicated by the committee, and then put in motion to forward to the board of trustees.

The Innovation Plan will remain the same as it has been in the past, except for the discussion about teacher certification. There was not much change from the past, just a better identification system of what could be considered for offering qualified teachers a teaching position. The board would then open the meeting for public comments.

Cuero Area Soccer Association President, Bobby Ramos, would begin addressing the board for two minutes. Ramos’ dialogue included a story about an individual that got the opportunity to make a better life for himself through playing soccer. “Had it not been for soccer, he may have not had this opportunity,” stated Ramos. The player referenced in the story would go on to get a scholarship to college and be the first of his family to graduate and attend college. He has made an impact by giving back, and Ramos’ speech dives into how soccer created a better avenue for his life.

The meeting then progressed to the board recognizing recent retirees from Cuero ISD. Mr. Jerome Moy was the first educator to be recognized for his 25 years of dedicated service to Cuero schools. Mr. Moy has helped pave the way for generations of students and has helped mold a lot of individuals during his time as a teacher. Second, Mrs. Nicole Anderson was recognized for her 10 years as an educator, as well as Mrs. Darlene Sprague for her three years as an educator in Cuero ISD.
