Ending summer with a chill
By Roger Cowan
Last Wednesday, the Friends of the Library held their final installment of the Summer Reading Program for this year. To close out the program, the children were treated to Luellen Smiley reading “Pancakes for Supper” followed by copious amounts of ice cream.
This summer’s program was once again made possible due to the generous support of several benefactors, most notably ConocoPhillips. Without the help of these donors, the Friends of the Library would not be able to offer such enriching and entertaining programs to the local children. The Friends were very grateful and look forward to a continued relationship which will perpetuate the program for years to come.
From snake to kangaroos, from dancing dogs to weird science, the Friends of the Library Summer Reading Program has been and will always been a delightful way to spend an afternoon for both children and adults. The News-View staff would like to take a moment to thank the Friends for all the hard work, the donors for their support, and the program presenters for their time. This program is just one of the things that makes our small community so special.
