Fire engulfs home near Green Bridge
At 7:50 p.m. last night, Feb. 17, local firefighters were dispatched to a house fire off U.S. Highway 183 South on the Cuero side of the Green Bridge. Fire crews left the scene at 2 a.m.
The bridge was shut down at that time, and traffic was re-routed.
By 8:08 p.m., the two-story structure was fully engulfed. The fire was contained. Mutual aid from Yoakum and Yorktown firefighters was provided at 8:45 p.m. to assist Cuero Fire Department.
There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is unknown. Red Cross has been called to assist.
Around 10 a.m. this morning, Feb. 18, firefighters were called back to the scene when the fire had restarted.
