The Cuero Record

Gobbler football has been around since 1911, this upcoming football season will be the 111th season on the gridiron. Over the century and decades, Cuero has built up a potent tradition-rich program that has garnered 11 state championship appearances. With four state titles sitting in the jam-packed trophy case, the Gobblers have cemented quite the impression across the Lone-Star State.

With the much-anticipated arrival of the 2022-2023 kickoff speedily approaching, Dave Campbell’s Texas High School Football is putting on a logo challenge. With 64 teams in the field, they are searching for the best Texas high school football logo in the state. The challenge is based on fan voting and has already progressed to round 2.

In the first round, Cuero matched up with the Rio Grande City Rattlers. After defeating them for the better logo, Cuero and Converse Judson have crossed paths. Voting for round two will end on June 15, additional voting details will be included at the end of the article.

Back in 2017, Cuero won a contest for best logo featured by texashsfootball.com. There are two Gobbler logos that typically come to mind when referring to Cuero. There’s the good ole fashion Cuero C’ that’s on the football helmets, and the fanned-out buff Gobbler stepping out of the Cuero C’ which is currently the logo in the middle of the turf at Gobbler Stadium.

The artist behind the Gobbler masterpiece is Cuero native Gerard Gonzales, owner of Standard Printing. Gonzales graduated from Cuero High School back in 72’ and has 35 years of experience serving on the Cuero ISD school board.
