H-E-B to require facial coverings effective July 1

The following is the official statement from H-E-B: "Over 85% of H-E-B stores operate under a local Health and Safety Plan ordinance requiring mask use in our stores. H-E-B will be requiring the use of facial covering in areas which do not operate under an ordinance. The health and wellness of our Partners and Customers are our top priority. Wearing masks is a proven way to slow the spread of the virus and allows businesses to operate safely during the pandemic. H-E-B has communicated to city/county offices who have yet to implement a mask ordinance and are aware of the business decision by H-E-B. Locally, in the Gulf Coast Region, the city/county entities appreciate our efforts to keep their community safe. As in city/counties with ordinances, there will be signage at stores and masks will be provided on a temporary basis as customers transition into a safer shopping experience."
