Our little town certainly put on a great show this past Saturday, with about 65 floats of various sizes passing up Broadway Street. Some were from other towns and we certainly thank them for coming, and some were made up by our local people who wanted to ride in the parade and take their mark in history. By 9 a.m. there were those who brought items of homemade blankets at the Nordheim Recreation Hall, an inspection of the Volunteer Fire Department, Museum, and the Nordheim School. There only were two riding horses, but lots of fire trucks, tractors, and lots of beautiful small floats. All were staged on East 1st Street awaiting anxiously the start of the parade at 10 a.m.

It all started with the ringing of the Nordheim St. Paul Lutheran Church bell 125 times to get the parade started with a lot of people waiting on each side of Broadway all the way up to the Shooting Club Hall.

The main attraction was the guests from our sister cities from Germany. Burgermeister Volker Schiek was the representative as Mayor of Nordheim, Germany, and rode with our Mayor Kathy Payne and eight exquisitely uniformed young firemen from Nordheim, Germany, who were guests of Ronnie Pfeifer, who visited their town last year along with Roberta Hale, also of the group visit.
