From one Baylor Bear to another, after 25 years in office, Ray Reese is passing the torch of county attorney to Jay Condie. Condie officially was sworn in as the new DeWitt County attorney on Monday, July 1 at the county courthouse.

Interestingly enough, Condie credits Reese for bringing him into the community nearly three decades ago out of Baylor Law School.

“In fact, I owe it all to Ray Reese,” Condie said. Reese and Condie attended Baylor Law School together in the late 1980’s, before Reese accepted his first law position at a firm in Victoria.

Just over a year later, Reese was back at Baylor meeting with potential candidates to work at the Victoria office.

“Unbeknown to me, he had gone to work for a firm in Victoria,” Condie recalled.

“I was applying for positions and applied for this firm in Victoria. I got lined up for the interview, and when I went to the interview, low and behold, it was Ray Reese.”
