Yorktown Community Hall has been a gathering place since the 1930’s; whether it be weddings, dances, or family reunions, the Community Hall association works to keep the venue looking and working great.
With the upcoming Denim and Pearls Dinner and Dance fund raiser on Saturday, Feb.8, proceeds raised will help with normal maintenance and up-keep so that plenty more folks can get use out of the great space.
Cynthia Hinds, Yorktown Community Hall association board member, dropped by the News-View office for an interview regarding the hall and the upcoming fund raiser.
“Basically, we are just trying to keep this hall going,” said Hinds of the Denim and Pearls dance. “It’s purpose is for community events– and it rents very well.”
With plenty of renovations completed in recent years like replacing the tables and chairs in the dining hall to adding indoor restrooms and replacing the front porch, Hinds explained that Community Hall board members keep a list of upcoming projects they would like to see happen.
“We would love to put air conditioning in the [dance hall], that’s really high on our list of improvements, or get some kind of cooling system in there so we can rent it out year round,” stated Hinds.
