Christopher Romans, Jeff Sievers and Aaron Koopman will take seats on the Yorktown ISD school board following the school board election on Saturday, May 7.

David Norrell lost his bid for reelection while trustee Deborah Kneese did not seek re-election.

Aaron Koopman received 490 votes, Todd Metting had 415 votes, David Norrell netted 377 votes, Christopher Romans received 508 votes and Jeff Sievers brought in 493 votes.

Local and statewide results saw both Proposition 1 and 2 Constitutional Amendments pass by a large margin. Close to 85 percent of voters supported Proposition 2, which raises the homestead exemption from $25,000 to $40,000. That will begin this year, saving average homeowners about $175 in school property taxes.
