Elizabeth Gonzales was crowned Miss Cuero. When asked what she was most looking forward to as Miss Cuero, Gonzales quickly replied, “Being able to be in the public and to be able to have fun with all the little kids and my parade float court. Because it’s a good group of people. We all have really amazing personalities, I know them all on a personal level, we’re all friends outside of here and I think it’s going to be a really fun year.”

Hahn wins quilt show awards

Ribbons were awarded in multiple categories, including Overall Best of Show, Best of Division, Best of Go Texan Award and Judges Choice, among others. The winning quilts are showcased in an online web gallery.

2021 Lady Gobbler softball season comes to a close

Carmen Deleon pitched five innings in the Lady Gobblers’ bi-district matchup against Fredericksburg on Friday, April 30 in Somerset. Cuero lost the best-of-three series to the Billies in two games last week, which ended their season.

‘It’s a United States crisis’

It was a packed house on Wednesday, May 5, when DeWitt County Sheriff Carl Bowen held a town hall meeting at the Cuero Park Clubhouse to discuss topics regarding the recent border issues facing Texas and DeWitt County.

County audit turns up over $16K in OEM funds not deposited

Findings from a recent audit conducted by the DeWitt County Auditor’s office on the office of emergency management, flood plain, LEPC and safety were presented at Monday’s meeting of the DeWitt County Commissioners Court. Non-compliance issues were addressed on a time frame of Jun. 1, 2019, through Mar. 25, 2021, for Cyndi Smith, the former emergency management coordinator.

Cuero Rotary Club centennial birthday recognized at a council meeting

City of Cuero Mayor Sara Post Meyer recognized the centennial birthday of the Cuero Rotary Club and proclaimed May 13 as Cuero Rotary Centennial Day.
