Cuero police say a man is in custody after an attempted robbery at a local liquor last night.

The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. when a Black male wearing dark clothing entered Ranch House Spirits and Gifts on Broadway Street, pulling out a firearm on the lone employee. The employee was able to fight back and run out of the store. The suspect followed the employee out and then fled the scene on foot. The employee then called 911.

With surveillance footage from the liquor store, Cuero Police Department posted a photo of the suspect on their Facebook page asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual. Through leads, the Cuero Police Department with assistance from the US Marshal’s Service out of Victoria, the suspect was identified and located. The suspect is from the East Texas area and is currently being held on an outstanding parole warrant; Cuero PD is filing additional charges.

“The Cuero Police Department would like to thank everyone for information that led to the suspect's apprehension,” captain Steven Ellis said.
