Christmas in Downtown, sponsored by Cuero Main Street, was Dec. 9, 6-10 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 10, noon to 10 p.m. with many activities such as ice skating, rock wall, carriage rides, live reindeer, and vendors at the Market Pavilion. weekend in Downtown Cuero.

Jay Lewis, Police Chief, shares some tips for a safe, and happy, holiday season:

• At your home, be sure all doors and windows are locked; don’t hide keys in mailboxes or planters, keep shrubs and trees trimmed away from doors and windows, be sure outside lights work to keep dark areas lighted

• Lock your vehicles and remove all valuables even when in your driveway

• Be suspicious of strangers at your door—ask for identification

• If leaving during the holidays, ask a trusted neighbor to watch your home

• After the holidays, don’t advertise expensive toys, electronics or other gifts received by leaving boxes for garbage collections; try to compact them.

• Add new items to your home inventory, take photos or videos of all items of value including item’s make, model, serial number.

Wishing each of you a very happy holiday season! See you in 2023 as we celebrate Cuero’s 150th birthday.
