Spectators and contestants gathered in the Cuero ISD Performing Arts Center to enjoy a night filled with fashion for the fifth annual Miss Sparkle Special Needs Pageant Aug. 14.

The event featured more than a dozen contestants that participated in several divisions, including formal wear, interviews, talent and fun wear. The pageant was hosted in Cuero as a central location for the participants and volunteers from Victoria, Cuero, Shiner, Gonzales and Yoakum.

“The pageant is my favorite day of the year! It takes strength and courage to get on stage for any pageant and we are so proud of these girls. This pageant is about them getting to show the world their abilities,” wrote Dallyn Pesek, who also coaches Sparkles – a special needs cheer team.

Dallyn, a student at Shiner’s St. Paul High School, has co-directed the pageant alongside her sister Delynn since 2017.

“To see these girls so happy as they get their hair and makeup done and spend the day with their volunteer buddies, it is truly amazing! There are lots of emotions that day from smiles to laughs and some happy tears as well. It is their day to sparkle,” wrote Dallyn.

Dallyn expressed gratitude for all sponsors, volunteers, participants and supporters that made the event possible and successful.
